Hindsight is 2022 as we finally celebrate our community after a two-year delay! St. Marys will be the place to be July 1 to 3!

Street and parking closures of note

Friday, July 1

Beginning at 3:00 p.m., parking on Queen Street between Water and Church streets will close to allow for safer viewing of the parade. 

Parking will reopen at the end of parade, at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 2 

Beginning at 7:00 a.m., Queen Street between Water and Church, and Wellington Street between Station and Jones, will close to vehicular traffic and parking, to allow for the Heritage Festival.

The street and parking will reopen at approximately 4:00 p.m.

 Thursday, June 30
 
Stonetown Arts "A Summer Show and Sale" | 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Check out the incredible local art talent in St. Marys, and perhaps take home a piece! Members of the Stonetown Arts group will have a show and sale on the second floor of The Flower Shop and More (147 Queen St. E.).
Free Mixed Doubles Tennis | 7:00 p.m.
Make a racket on the tennis courts, refurbished in 2014! Free mixed doubles begin at 7:00 p.m. with the St. Marys Social Tennis Club. Teen and adult players of all skill levels invited for fun recreation play, no sign up required!
Piper at the Falls | 7:00 p.m.
Talented bagpiper Les Brunton will perform a variety of songs on Millrace Island. Enjoy from the island, Milt Dunnell Field (The Flats) or from your watercraft!
 St. Marys Juggernauts Soccer Game | 8:00 p.m.
Kick start your weekend with a fast-paced Western Ontario Soccer League game as the St. Marys Juggernauts take on LS Croatia on the soccer pitch at St. Marys DCVI. No charge to attend!
Movie in the Park with the Friends of the Library | Dusk (approximately 9:00 p.m.)
Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a family-friendly movie, courtesy of the Friends of the Library! Donations appreciated, popcorn available. Movie to be announced. 
 Friday, July 1
 
Parks Lawn Bowling Club of St. Marys Open House | 9 a.m. to noon
Learn and enjoy this popular past time with the local club at Milt Dunnell Field for free!
Set'em Up, Barkeep! A seminar on St. Marys' historic watering holes | 10 a.m.
Enjoy sobering tales of St. Marys' historic watering holes courtesy of local historian Ken Telfer, who reprises a popular pick from the St. Marys Museum's Seminar Series. appropriately held at Broken Rail Brewing. Admission is $15 and includes a pint from the Broken Rail taps! Pre-registration through the St. Marys Museum via museum@town.stmarys.on.ca or calling 519-284-3556. 
 St. Marys Commemorates Canada Day | 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Join us at Cadzow Park for a peaceful afternoon of creativity and reflections on being Canadian. Live music from Paul Droog, and William's Daughter, an ensemble performance from the St. Marys Poetry Circle, plus a local artisan market and land thanking and flag raising ceremony at noon. More details.

Square One Skateboarding Open House | 2 p.m.
Check out the incredible talents of local skateboarders and scooters, participate in competitions and more at the Skateboard Park (180 James Street South, adjacent to the St. Marys Fire Department). Free event.
 Thames Crest Farms St. Marys Kinsmen Homecoming Parade | 5:30 p.m.

The official start of Homecoming weekend! The parade departs the Pyramid Recreation Centre at 5:30 p.m., travels up James Street, then turns left on Queen to make its way downtown. Download the float entry form here to join in the fun!

 Cascades Homecoming Street Dance | 7:30 p.m. to midnight

Enjoy a free dance in beautiful Milt Dunnell Field courtesy of local talents Flywheel, After Midnight and The Newboys! Food trucks will be available. Washrooms located at Famme & Co.

 Rotary Fireworks | 10 p.m. (approximate)

Watch a dazzling display launched high above St. Marys from the Grand Trunk Trestle (Sarnia Bridge)! Members of the Rotary Club of St. Marys will circulate; support their projects if you are able!

 Saturday, July 2
 
 St. Marys Farmers' Market | 8 a.m. to noon
The St. Marys Farmers' Market offers a wide array of locally grown and produced goods, from fruits to vegetables, meat and dairy products, baked goods, crafts, wines and more, in beautiful Lions Park at the north end of Milt Dunnell Field, also known as "The Flats". A home cooked and locally sourced breakfast will be available started at 8:00 a.m., with assistance from the St. Marys Lions Club. 
 St. Marys Home Building Centre DCVI All Years' Reunion | 9 a.m. to noon

All former students invited! Come reminisce, catch up with friends, enjoy memorabilia and more! Entrance via James Street parking lot.

Free Shuttle courtesy of McLean-Taylor Construction | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Save stress and hop on the bus to fun! Park at or walk to the Pyramid Recreation Centre or to the Wellness Centre for a ride to the festivities downtown.  Shuttle will run on a continual loop.

Wellness Centre riders are asked to ONLY park at the north end of the parking lot and to reserve the south end for St. Marys Memorial Hospital patients and their families. 

Shopping, demonstrations and more! | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Be sure to enjoy our many shops and services in the downtown during the Heritage Festival! In addition to sales and demonstrations happening on the street, many shops will have special events inside to welcome everyone home to Downtown St. Marys!

Enjoy free children's activities, live performances, shopping, and more on Queen Street from Water to Church, and activities throughout the downtown!

 Appleland Train presented by Tradition Mutual Insurance | 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Hitch a ride on this fun miniature train with stops at Milt Dunnell Field, the northeast corner of Queen and Water streets (Roancroft) and the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home.

Learn about our impressive history in the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle! Tours are 45 minutes and leave on the hour from Town Hall. Free but advance registration strongly recommended by calling the St. Marys Museum at 519-284-3556. 
 St. James Anglican Church Box Lunch | 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Volunteer-directed tours of the church buildings and grounds of St. James Anglican Church. 11:30-1:30: Boxed “Church-Lady” sandwich lunches available by donation.

Individual reunions | times and locations vary
Get together with old friends from school and work and beyond! Is your group having a reunion? Please let us know so we can help spread the word! 
 Homecoming Dance | 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. 

Put on your dancing shoes as St. Marys native and Canadian country music artist Darcy John rocks the Pyramid Recreation Centre at this licensed event! Opening acts are St. Marys' own Wes Murray and Stevie T. and Stonemerry. 

Buy your tickets online here. Get home safely thanks to a free shuttle service courtesy of Murphy Bus Lines and the St. James Lodge, from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.! Pickup points to be announced.  

 Sunday, July 3
 
Pickleball Open House | 10:30 a.m.
Come try this fun and fast-growing game that's a mix of tennis, ping-pong and badminton with members of the St. Marys Pickleball Association at the racket sports courts. Free!
 Ecumenical Ministerial Service | 1 p.m. 
Give thanks together for a wonderful weekend outdoors at the Cadzow Park Amphitheater. Lawn chairs encouraged! 
 Closing Ceremonies at the Front Porch Show | 2 p.m.
Say "hello, hello" one last time at this very eclectic and entertaining live and local variety show at the Cadzow Park Amphitheatre! The 50/50 raffle winner will be announced! Free to attend -- lawn chairs encouraged!

 OCWA water refilling station

The only thing that could taste better than the water at the historic Weir Fountain is knowing that you're doing good for the environment! Refill your water bottle for FREE all weekend long at the southeast corner of Queen and Wellington streets!

 Golf is $20.20
Enjoy nine hours of golf for $20.20 at all three of our local courses: St. Marys Golf & Country Club, River Valley, and Science Hill. Price does not include cart, and is available games played Friday to Sunday. Please mention "Homecoming" when booking your tee time. 
 St. Marys Museum

Visit the St. Marys Museum to check out a Homecoming display, filled with nostalgic photos from the 70s, 80s and 90s. You might even find a photo of yourself on exhibit!

Hours: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Canada Day, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3

 "A Walk Downtown Memory Lane" Strolling Exhibit
Take a walk down memory lane as several businesses will be displaying photos from the 70s, 80s, and 90s in their storefronts. You can also stop in to several businesses to jot your memories down in notebooks that will later be collected by the Museum.
Art of Ideas Gallery

ART OF IDEAS Gallery and Heritage Home at 236 Jones St. E. recently opened its doors as of this summer! We offer guided tours over the week ends, between May and October. Come hear about the history and architecture of this beloved St. Marys landmark, meet the artist who lives now in the house and get to see his unique artwork and his studio.

 

There are two tours per day, on Saturdays and Sundays, at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The tour is $20 per person and has to be booked online. Private tours for minimum four people can also be arranged. Book your tour at: https://www.artofideasgallery.com/admission.
