A solid Saturday from morning until… Rotary Fireworks!

The Saturday of this year’s Stonetown Heritage Festival will be chockablock with a variety of live entertainment, much of it new to the festival!

“The festival is just over a month away on July 14 to 16,” says Town of St. Marys Events Coordinator Alanna Bowes. “Saturday’s programming will definitely be a highlight!”

The intersection of Queen and Wellington Streets will feature demonstrations and performances throughout the day from Dragon Breath Entertainment hula hoop and fire artist, plus Nick Nets, a basketball net stilt walker, thanks to the generosity of McLean Taylor Construction.

There will also be skateboard demonstration courtesy of Square One Square Shop and the Rotary All Wheels Park, plus local musicians performing throughout the day, including young musicians from The World’s Coolest Music Store.

In addition to these feature performers, youngsters can enjoy a downtown Kids Zone, presented by Trouw Nutrition. This area will include inflatables, face painting, activities from the Town of St. Marys EarlyON Centre, the St. Marys Museum, the St. Marys Public Library and the Museum of Ontario Archeology.

Meeting at the Lion’s Pavilion in Milt Dunnell Field, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority will lead a workshop exploring river life at 10:00 a.m. The 45-minute workshop is geared toward children and pre-registration is not required. While at Milt Dunnell, be sure to stop by the St. Marys Farmers’ Market between 8:00 a.m. and noon.

Milt Dunnell Field will be the place to be the Saturday evening of the festival, as a concert featuring wonderful local acts takes the stage, presented by Armstrong Paving and Materials Group Ltd. York Street Thought Process (indie folk duo) open the show, followed by The Bone Radlers (folk duo); Roy’s Garage (classic rock band) will perform as the sun sets.

As per tradition, the Rotary Fireworks will light up the sky come dusk (approximately 10:00 p.m.). Similar to New Year’s Eve, the fireworks will be set off from the Grand Trunk trestle, and St. Marys Rotarians will be roaming the area with donation buckets to help offset the cost of the display.

The full festival schedule is available at www.discoverstmarys.ca/festival; watch for more details as the dates approach!
